Physical Education is important every week, but Term 4, Week 5 is the week to celebrate it! #PEWeek22

Physical Education Week promotes and highlights the importance of Health & PE in the Australian Curriculum to the learning and development of children and young people. All students have a right to receive quality physical education teaching and learning programs.

Thank you to the 195 Schools and 63,142 students who registered their involvement in PE Week 2021! Registrations for 2022 will open in Term 3 - registering your School's participation is FREE and you will receive the ACHPER SA PE Week Activities Booklet.

How Can Schools Participate?

ACHPER SA have made celebrating easy by offering four categories:

  1. Own School Activities
  2. Theme Days
  3. Come and Try Days
  4. Physical Education Week Dinner & Awards Night

1. Own School Activities

The easiest way to celebrate Physical Education Week - run some activities in your class or with the whole school! Start a lunch time teacher vs student competition, have a health hustle everyone morning, focus on wellbeing in the classroom... the opportunities are endless! Theme Days have also been developed to assist with your in-School activities - see number 2 for more information.

Our FREE PE Week Resource Booklet will give you a number of ideas, posters and activities to download and implement. This Resource E-Book is free for every teacher who registers their participation in PE Week. The E-Book will be available to download later in 2022.

2. Theme Days

Our theme days make it easy for you to celebrate Physical Education Week. Each theme day has easy to implement activities, and you can access them for free by registering your School's involvement for Physical Education Week. The 2021 theme days were:

MOVEMENT MONDAY

TOKYO TUESDAY

WELLBEING WEDNESDAY

TARGET THURSDAY

FUNDAMENTAL FRIDAY

3. Metropolitan Come and Try Days

A great opportunity for an active excursion, our come and try days offer the opportunity for students in Reception - Year 6 to experience a wide range of activities offered by sport coaches, in age appropriate groups. Click here to see highlights from a previous year. In 2022, the Come and Try days will be held on Tuesday 15th & Thursday 17th November. Stay tuned for the opening of registrations.

4. Physical Education Week Dinner & Awards Night

Friday 18th November, 7pm-10.30pm, Adelaide Pavilion

Nominate a colleague for an award, get a table together and come along and celebrate HPE’s night of nights. It's a great event and a chance to recognise those teachers, coaches and volunteers involved in the many great things that HPE develop. Special sporting guest speakers are always a highlight of the evening - a night not to be missed. Members $90 | Non-members $110 (includes a 4 hour drinks package and 3 course meal).
